Before I leave I'll put this out... take care everyone... I will come back eventually!
Over the next few years my friends and I kept hanging with Ruby. Every day I'd call everyone to meet up and we would do stuff in the forest. None of our parents didn't have a problem with it as long as we sticked together and away from danger. It sure was nice to have a friend like Ruby, someone who knows how to have fun.
I remember when we first introduced her into town. She would be instantly be amazed. The people around her thought she was a regular Faunas despite her Grimm-like features. Everyone thought it was only a mask.
One day as Ruby and I were leaving a candy shop with a huge bag of sweets we ran into a group of vandals. One of them tripped me, making me drop the bag with all the sweets everywhere on the ground. I was beaten senselessly and their so called "leader" pushed Ruby up against a wall.
They all called her a "Freak" and kept on pushing her down. I got so angry that I tried breaking free by head-butting the first bully and throwing the other over my shoulder. Finally, I grabbed the last one by his collar and decked him right in the nose. I grabbed Ruby's hand and the bag before running off.
From that day forward she would feel protected whenever I was around. As for me I'd feel happy. That's when I realized I developed these feelings for her. However I'm not sure if she felt the same way.
At sundown we had the idea to set up a bonfire near the cabins. We gathered around while sitting on logs and talked about our most memorable moments.
Lloyd: "And so then there I was at the edge of the cliff with the hang glider. Taking that opportunity I jumped off and started flyin' like an eagle."
(Y/n): "Fly like an eagle~"
Lloyd: "Let my spirit carry me~"
Xenon: "Heh. Hey did you bring any snacks?"
Suzy: "Xenon, the person who can't control his craving for snacks. Aw shucks now you got me into it."
Lloyd: "Lucky for you guys I brought the mallows this time."
(Y/n): "Short way of saying marshmallows."
Ruby: "Oh, yeah."
Suzy: "Here we go again with Xenon and his eating habits."
Xenon: "At least I'm not fat."
Suzy: "We'll just have to see about that fat boy."
Lloyd: "That's enough you two."
I giggled as I reached for the bag and reached for a mallow, poking a sharp stick through it and then roasting it over the fire. Ruby did the same thing, but she didn't realize that hers was too close to the fire. Instead, It ended up catching flames.
Ruby: "Uh oh!"
(Y/n): "That's fine. We still have lots."
Mine came out perfect. Just for this moment I gave it to her as an act of kindness.
(Y/n): "Here, take it."
Ruby: "Thank you~"
Lloyd: "Suzy, please."
Everyone except for Xenon laughed. These guys can sure be a handful. After a few stories and good laughs we thought it was time to wrap things up. I kept the fire going until they all left saying goodbye.
Ruby: "Your friends are great."
(Y/n): ""Our" friends. You've know us for quite some time now."
We've been sitting here for awhile now and I think it's time I confess.
Ruby and (Y/n): "Can I say something? Uh, you first. No, you!"
(Y/n): "Ladies first! There ya go."
Ruby: "Okay. Do you like me more than just a friend?"
She hugs me with joy. I smiled and petted her ears, embracing every second of this moment.
Ruby: "Can we?"
She gets near my face.
She closed her eyes and puckered her lips. I did the same and soon our lips touched. She quickly looked away, blushing really hard.
(Y/n): "Are you not used to this?"
Ruby: "It feels weird... but in a good way."
(Y/n): "Well then start getting used to it now."
Ruby: "*Yawn* Can we go to sleep?"
(Y/n): "It is getting late. C'mon, let's go to the cabins."
We both stood up and I put out the bonfire before leaving the area. The cabins were just on the other side of the forest. The only way to get through is by sticking together and not get separated because it seriously dark.
Ruby: "I don't wanna go in there."
She still remembers of what happened to her in the past. She nervously clung onto my arm.
(Y/n): "It's alright. We can get there if we keep going forward so follow me."
We moved together side by side. So far, so good. What's freakier than the darkness itself is that somewhere in the middle of this forest it's literally quiet. No wind, no trees rusting and even in the day time you can't hear any birds chirping from the outside. But what's really interesting is that there are no trees in that specific area which can easily expose lots of light. I like to call it the "Eye of the Forest."
Ruby: "Are we almost there?"
(Y/n): "Just a little further."
Ruby: "Hey... hey look."
(Y/n): "Ruby I can't see..."
I tried looking in every direction 'till I could see a bright yellow light illuminating behind some trees. We moved around every obstacle to see what was causing that light. What I saw was an active fire lamp that was at the very center of this vast area.
Ruby: "(Y/n)... could this be the place you were talking about earlier?"
(Y/n): "It is..."
There was absolute silence. The two didn't have a clue to why a lamp would be doing in the "Eye of the Forest." (Y/n) soon felt the temperature begin to decrease. Fog began clouding throughout the ground and the lamp changed its flame to blue.
Ruby: "What's going on!?"
(Y/n): "Stay close to me."
??: "Sick creature...
Without any reaction time a giant blade was thrown right into (Y/n)'s abdomen. (Y/n) was carried with the momentum of the blade which was stabbed into a tree. He tried holding back the pain, but every time he would struggle blood would start leaking more.
Ruby: "(Y/n), No!"
Hunter: "may you rest in peace..."
A tall man appeared behind Ruby, his gun pointed in the back of her head.
Ruby however had her Grimm senses kick in, moving aside before the hunter could pull the trigger. Within seconds Ruby transformed into her Grimm-self and attempted to claw the hunter. The hunter evaded in time and pulled out his axe, swinging it against Ruby. Only a mere flesh wound was made on her chest and that made her enraged.
The hunter had the advantage, making it easier for his prey to be staggered. (Y/n) couldn't figure a way to get the blade out of him, it was too deep to even take it out. Instead he walked forward, trying to ignore the serious pain as much as possible. Soon he was free, falling onto his knees and holding his wound to stop the bleeding.
Finally he looked up, only to see Ruby fade into her human form. Cuts and other wounds covered her entire body as she was lying on the ground helpless.
Hunter: "Beasts all over the world... You'll be one of them, sooner or later..."
Those were the last words of the hunter and he left throughout the forest. The fog cleared out and the lamp was still active with its blue flame. (Y/n) stood up, limping heavily over to Ruby. He reached her unconscious body and fell on his knees once more, tears began streaming down his cheeks.
(Y/n): "I can't let you die like this... you need to live... live your life to the fullest..."
A white aura glowed around his body. He grabbed Ruby's hand and the white aura pulsated through direct contact. The wounds were gone, but they appeared on (Y/n). This increased blood loss. With one last breath he fell next to Ruby. She began waking up, realizing (Y/n) sacrificed himself to save her.
Ruby began crying uncontrollably, as Beowolves came out from the shadows of the forest. They howled, mourning for the death of her best friend.
